Up-to-date auction house prices without scanning
The Hammerprice desktop app keeps the Hammerprice addon filled with recent prices from other players' scans, so you don't have to run one yourself.

Brings network prices into the game
Checks for new prices every 10 minutes and writes them into the Hammerprice_Data addon, loaded on your next /reload.
Shares your scans
When the game saves, on /reload or logout, new full scans from the addon are uploaded to the Hammerprice network. Sharing can be turned off.
Touches only its own files
Reads Hammerprice's saved variables and writes only inside Interface/AddOns/Hammerprice_Data. Never the game process, Config.wtf or other addons.

Get Hammerprice from CurseForge.
Install the app
Open it and sign in with Battle.net. It finds the game folder.
Reload the game
Prices load into the addon on your next /reload, and after that every time you reload or log in.
